Our History of Innovation
ANetD Founded
In 2004, our founder Brian Donahoe led the design of the industry’s first IP-based, PoE public address speaker for classroom use — so groundbreaking that it was demonstrated by Cisco’s CEO during a keynote tradeshow. Shortly after initial production, Advanced Network Devices was incorporated. Then and now, ANetD remains an engineering-driven company, with more than half our team bringing deep expertise across embedded electronics, computing, hardware acceleration, audio, video, imaging, and machine learning/AI.
Two-Way PA Speaker with Clock
Despite significant pressure to the contrary, ANetD pioneered the integration of the speaker and clock to make communication bidirectional and no longer limited to just outgoing announcements.
IP Speaker with Scrolling Text
ANetD replaced the traditional clock display with a full-scrolling text display and launched a zone controller, which puts existing analog speakers onto the network.
IP Speaker with Multi-color Display
Amid the Great Recession, ANetD brings major innovations to the security/mass notification category by adding colored flashers, colored text, graphics, fonts, and flashing text.
Behind-the-Scenes Innovations
ANetD incorporated a wide range of innovations and firsts, including PoE+ support, sound masking, feedback suppression, echo cancellation, integrated light and temperature sensors, RSS and calendar support, Twitter/X integration, and scoreboard functionality.
Vigilar™ Gunshot Detection
Leveraging its deep machine-learning and AI expertise, ANetD enhances its solutions with threat-detection technologies beginning with gunshot detection. The integrated system rapidly identifies threats, triggers response workflows, and delivers alerts and guidance through the same devices that power mass notification and support first responders.
Smart Panic Buttons
ANetD pioneered the industry’s first IP-based PoE panic buttons, offering both discreet under-desk and prominent wall-mounted designs that trigger alerts, lockdowns, and customized response protocols, each with integrated Vigilar gunshot detection.
Large HD IP Display
Having developed an LCD-based product in 2018, ANetD brings high-definition (HD) images and video to the category with a powerful multimedia solution (LCD, prominent marquee bar, microphone, premium sound, and Vigilar threat detection.
