School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP)
Providing funding for school safety, the FY26 SVPP grant gives schools the opportunity to improve emergency response technology.

The Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is offering a federal grant to improve school safety through evidence-based security measures. Up to $73 million is available for ISDs across the nation, with awards up to $500,000 offered over the span of 36 months.
SVPP generally requires applicants to provide a 25% cash match toward the total project cost. Applicants may request a waiver of this requirement if they qualify under the program guidelines.

Eligibility
The following are eligible to apply under this program.
States, units of local government, Native American tribes, and their public agencies, including:
- School districts, including public charter schools and school districts with a single school
- School boards
- Law enforcement agencies
Note: Individual schools not operating as school districts, independent schools, and private schools, including private charter schools, are NOT eligible to apply as primary applicants.
Applicants must certify that they developed their proposal in consultation with key stakeholders – as required by the program.

Proposed projects MUST support a comprehensive approach to school safety, protect student privacy, promote equal treatment to all students, and address specific safety needs of each campus.

How to Apply
Applications require two separate submissions.
1. Submit an SF-424 in Grants.gov. Deadline: Tuesday, August 4, 2026 (4:59 p.m. ET)
2. Complete application including all attachments to JustGrants. Deadline: Tuesday, August 11, 2026 (4:59 p.m. ET)
